Este video se centra en la pintura durante la Edad Media, época de plagas y demonios. Por primera vez aparece un héroe en la historia de la pintura: Giotto, un pastor de las colinas toscanas, en Italia, es el artífice de la primera revolución en el arte de occidente. Revolución que marcará la historia de la pintura en Europa durante los cinco siglos siguientes. Es el momento también, en que artistas del norte europeo empiezan a experimentar con la pintura al óleo. La hermana Wendy nos lleva hasta Padua en busca de las obras maestras de Giotto y prosigue su viaje por Siena y Asis, la ciudad natal de San Francisco, donde encontrará pinturas de Duccio y Ambrogio Lorenzetti. Wendy Becket finaliza su viaje en Holanda para mostrarnos el arte de Jan van Eyck y Hieronymus Bosch. |
