Este programa estudia las fobias o terror excesivo e irracional hacia una situación que no representa un peligro real. Afectan a unos 20 millones de estadounidenses, invadiendo sus pensamientos y restringiendo sus actividades y sus vidas. La mayoria de la gente no se somete a tratamiento y sufre innecesariamente. Por medio de experimentos y entrevistas con expertos conoceremos las nuevas teorías científicas que explican por qué algunas personas desarrollan fobias y otras no. Los tratamientos nuevos incluyen el uso de realidad virtual como tocar una araña virtual para aminorar el miedo a las de verdad. La gente comparte historias de fobias, entre las que se encuentran miedo a las alturas, a las arañas (aracnofobia), a lugares públicos o abiertos (agorafobia), a hablar en público, visitar al dentista y conducir. |
